BFF in Bowie, MD this Saturday

Hi everyone!

Bulla Family Farm will be at St. Matthews’s UMC in Bowie, MD, this Saturday, November 2, 2013. Check our Event Calendar for more details on the location and time. I’ve got some pickles left, and plenty of sauces and jams.

Sharing our booth will also be The Salvation Army Annapolis, who will be selling some beautiful custom photographs from a local Annapolis artist. All proceeds from the artwork will go directly to The Salvation Army Annapolis.

Hope to see you Saturday…

Big Day Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a big day for Bulla Family Farm. It’s the first time we’ll be in TWO locations on the same day! That means you have twice as many options to get some home-grown homemade goodness.

We’ve got marinara, pickles, and lots of jams waiting!

We’ll be at The Salvation Army at 351 Hilltop Lane in Annapolis …my mom, Sue Conley is manning the table there… and at the Maryland Promotions Team Fall Frolic Craft Fair at 801 Aquahart Road in Glen Burnie (behind the Bruster’s) where Bobby and I will be. Both events are happening rain or shine, so make your plans to stop by and start stocking up on Thanksgiving and Christmas goodies!!

Hope to see you tomorrow at one of our locations!

New Events Scheduled for BFF

Hi everyone! There are some new events scheduled for BFF. We’ll be finding our way to Glen Burnie, Bowie, and Annapolis over the next few weeks. Now’s your chance to mark your calendar to stop by one of these events and pick up your favorite jams, sauces, and pickles or to try something new and make a new favorite!

The cucumbers grew really well, so we’ve got some bread ‘n butter pickles back on the table this Fall. I’ve also got some Dilly Beans – if you like pickles and you like green beans, this WILL be your new favorite thing.

Check out our Calendar of Events to see when and where we’ll be. We are looking for some help on Friday, November 29th from 10-5 at the Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis. If you’re interested in help, please click on Contact Us and let us know. Thanks!!

Have a wonderful day, and we hope to see you soon at one of our shows!

Pickle me this, Batman!!

Well, the fruits of summer are rolling in! I’ve been so busy the last few weekends harvesting and pickling. I’ve made a Bread ‘n Butter with a twist – no sugar added! The sweetness in these pickles come from honey! I have some lacto-fermented Spicy Dill Pickles bubbling right now in a glass crock. These pickles include whole cucumbers, sliced banana peppers, pearl onions, garlic (lots of garlic), whole fresh okra and sprigs of fresh dill…all of the veggies are from the BFF! And last, but certainly not least, I’m making Dilly Beans. I am new to the idea of Dilly Beans – basically Dill Pickles made with string beans instead of cucumbers – but it turns out it’s in my blood. My paternal grandmother used to make them all the time! And my mom loves them…so, I gathered in about 8-9 pounds of fresh string beans, cleaned the ends, snapped them, tossed with some spices and jarred them up tight. Mom will be my taste tester in a couple weeks to see how they compare with grandma’s Dilly Beans.

In the next couple of weeks, I’ll post some new events to the calendar for the Fall. And if any of my BFFs out there know of local farmer’s markets or fairs that we can be a part of, please don’t hesitate to send a note through the Contact Form on the site!

Until next time…stay healthy, eat fresh and buy locally!

Calling all BFFs!!

Hi everyone! As you know, Bulla Family Farm will be at the Naptown barBAYque this weekend at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. We are very excited to be a part of this two-day festival! But we need your help staffing the table. We are looking for volunteers for 3-4 hours on Saturday between 11 am – 10 pm, and Sunday from 12 – 6 pm. Once you’re in the gate, you can catch some of the music and visit some of the food vendors…without the cost of admission if you’re a vendor helper.

We will have our BFF wares for sale – jams, marinaras, and *NEW* Spicy Peach BBQ sauce. Samples will be out for everyone to taste!

Please send an email to BullaFamilyFarm@gmail.com if you or a friend are willing and able to help along with t-shirt sizes. And much thanks in advance!!

New Event Scheduled

Hi Everyone!

We’ve added a new two-day event to the Bulla Family Farm calendar. If you’re in the area, please stop by the Naptown barBAYq at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds in Crownsville, MD, on May 4-5. This is a bonafide Kansas City barbecue contest and music festival, y’all! The dates of the event are on our calendar tab. We will be unveiling two new products – Steve’s Syrups (toppings for waffles, pancakes, or ice cream!) and a special Spiced Peach Barbecue sauce just for the event. These products will have limited availability, so you’ll have to get them while they last!

The website for the BarBAYque and music festival is http://www.barbayq.com/

Hope to see you there!!

In the mean time, I’m off to boil some eggs for some Easter coloring fun with the boys.

Have a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year celebration. We had a great time with family and friends. It was a great Christmas for the budding Bulla Family Farm…some recipe books, a storage area, a jam maker, a personalized tote and a beautiful crystal jam jar for serving some of our fabulous jams at the breakfast table. I am truly blessed by the support of my family for my canning and farming adventure!!

I’ve been making lots of jams and sauces over the holidays while the office was closed, and the shelves are filling up with Carrot Cake Jam, Spiced Peach Jam, the holiday favorite Pineapple Upside Down Jam, and of course the Spicy and Traditional Red Sauces.

We had a great visit with my good friend Wanda visiting from Atlanta, which gave us the opportunity to have some friends from church over for some spaghetti and meatballs…what a WONDERFUL afternoon!!

I’ll be scheduling some craft shows and a new venture into the farmer’s markets in Anne Arundel County, MD, and surrounding areas this new year, so keep an eye out for us and your favorite sauces and jams. And in the meantime, if you’ve run out or know a friend you think would like to try some, you can always place an order on the Order Form Tab.

Cheers to a Happy and Healthy 2013 to all!!
